Chris Hemsworth's Stunt Double Bobby Hanton Talks About 'Avengers' Experience
The stunt double of the Chris Hemsworth recently shared some details about what it is like to work with the "Avengers" star.
Bobby Holland Hanton first became Hemsworth's stunt double during the film "Snow White and the Huntsman." Ever since then, it was confirmed that Hanton has ben accompanying Hemsworth on the rest of his action films such as the "Thor" movies.
Hanton spoke to Muscle and Fitness about his experience being Hemsworth's stunt double. He said that unlike Hemsworth, it was hard for him to maintain the large body needed to take on the role of "Thor." He joked, "Chris is naturally a monster and all he has to do is look at weights and he grows. It's always a challenge, which I like, but I'm not going to lie, it's hard to maintain."
He said that in order to maintain the Hemsworth-like body, he had to eat 35 times a day. According to Elite Daily, his diet consisted of grilled chicken, turkey, boiled eggs, and spinach. However, he did have some cheat days where he ate cake and sweets.
Aside from that, he also went through intensive training. He said, "So I ended up, before we started shooting, maybe two months before, I started training twice a day, about an hour each session, maybe 5 or 6 days a week. And then when we got Chris in during closer to shooting, maybe 2 weeks before we started, I upped my training to an hour and a half a session twice a day, six days a week to try and gain that size and I had to focus a lot on arms."
Hanton explained that the two of them have gotten close since they started working together. During his interview, he praised Hemsworth by saying, "He's a great dad, great husband, great friend…all-round legend. We have become very close friends now, I love him."
