A powerful documentary by Christian filmmaker Reuben Evans tells a unique story involving his wife who was almost aborted before being adopted as a baby.

Evan's "Reunion" follows Kim Coppe, a Christian mother who first got pregnant at age 17 and chose to give her daughter up for adoption. In the documentary, Coppe recounts her inner turmoil and complete dependence on God during the pregnancy, as well as the unshakable faith it took to offer her child to another family.

"I was raised by my godly mother through my teen years, and I went to school and was outspoken in my testimony of strong faith," she explains in the film. "I had such a confident assurance in my walk with the Lord, but with that can also come spiritual pride. So part of my story and journey that I am sharing involves that facet of my life."

The film goes on to reveal Coppe's conflicts as a young woman in a relationship, including the realization that she was pregnant and the options recommended to her. The father of the child, Duane, first suggested an abortion.

"That's not me, I don't feel right about that, that's not what I am going to do," Coppe recalled of the conversation.

Shortly thereafter, the young couple informed their families of the pregnancy. After months of contemplation and prayer, the pair agreed to put their child up for adoption.

"There were many Scriptures that came alive during the decision time, I knew that God had plans for my child, for good-- not evil, for hope and a future," Coppe explained. "I prayed that she would be raised in a godly home where You are foremost, that she learns to respect and honor serve one another with a father who represented the father heart of God."

In the years that followed, Kim and Duane got married. After a difficult miscarriage, the couple had two more children, but never forgot their firstborn daughter. Almost 25 years later after giving SaraAnn up for adoption, their daughter reached out to them, leading to a monumental reunion.

"Reunion" premiered last month at Immanuel Bible Church, but to learn more about the documentary, visit the official website and on Facebook. It is also available for download here.
