Christian Football Star Tim Tebow Expected to Sign One-Year Contract With Philadelphia Eagles Monday

Former Heisman Trophy winner and Christian football star Tim Tebow is expected to get another shot at advancing his NFL career Monday when the Philadelphia Eagles will reportedly sign him to a one-year contract.

The pending deal was first reported Sunday by Fox Sports' Jay Glazer and others.

"Scoopage: The Eagles are planning to bring in Tim Tebow and sign him tomorrow as they begin their offseason program FOX SPORTS has learned," tweeted Glazer Sunday evening.

Tebow has been out of the NFL since he was cut by the New England Patriots before the 2013 season. He had been working as an ESPN college football commentator since then. Tebow worked out with the Eagles in March and his workout appears to have been good enough to get him the deal according to SB Nation's Adam Stites.

"He still has a long way to go. NFL teams are allowed to carry 90 players at this point in the league year. That number has to be cut to 53 by Week 1. The Eagles also have a crowded depth chart at quarterback. Philly traded for Sam Bradford and re-sign Mark Sanchez this offseason. The No. 3 quarterback at the moment is Matt Barkley, who was a fourth-round draft pick in 2013," wrote Stites.

Tebow is yet to acknowledge the reports. The last post on his social media pages as of Sunday evening was Ephesians 4:32: "Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you."

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott however wasted no time congratulating the player.

"Congrats to @TimTebow for joining the @Eagles. May he soar with his new team--except when he plays the @dallascowboys #NFL," he tweeted.
