Christian Pastor Assaulted Inside University of Missouri's 'Free Speech Zone' for Preaching About Christianity

A Christian preacher was reportedly punched in the mouth by an activist inside the University of Missouri's "Free Speech Zone," based on a new video that has surfaced recently.

A yet unidentified black activist was apparently responsible for punching the Christian preacher in the mouth during an ongoing protest inside the "Free Speech Zone" of the University of Missouri on Thursday. Jake Holt, who claims to be a campus associate for Fox News, posted a photo on Facebook showing the Caucasian pastor with a bloody lip after the activist suddenly attacked him while he was talking about Christianity, according to the Inquisitr.

The University of Missouri has made headlines for issues of in-campus racism. The problem has been brewing for some time already, and the situation is now on the brink of racially fuelled violence, the report explains.

A video posted on Periscope shows the unnamed preacher holding up a Holy Bible and a sign quoting Hebrews 5:9. He was using a microphone while he was spreading his Biblical message within the "Free Speech Zone." After the assault, another activist took his microphone and discussed oppression, free speech, and Martin Luther King, Jr's efforts to bring about social change through non-violent protests.

Blogger Matei Stefanescu said he witnessed the whole thing and confirmed that the person who attacked the Christian pastor is not the same person who took the microphone, The Blaze reports.

Meanwhile, Loft took to Twitter to denounce the assault on the Christian pastor made by a member of the African American Communists from New York. The Fox campus associate said the incident was a form of attack on the preacher's free speech.

"I can no longer stand on the outside of this. A man of God was assaulted in our "free speech zone" on campus … for simply using his first amendment rights to spread the word of God," The Blaze quotes Loft's statement on Twitter. "This protest has become an attack on free speech and it is wrong."

Major Brian Weimer of the University of Missouri Police Department confirmed that they already filed an incident report and that they are already investigating the alleged assault. However, they still have not arrested anyone because the identity of the attacker is still unknown.
