"I am thrilled that Nickelodeon has asked me to host 'Kids' Choice Sports.' What an honor to be the king of slime for one crazy night," Wilson said in a statement from Nickelodean. "I had so much fun at the show last summer that I can't wait to get back. What kid doesn't want to get slimed? Count me in on that. "

Wilson went on to explain why the moment would be special to him.

"I'm just a big kid at heart, so let the fun begin," Wilson said in a statement from the network. "I promise you, we're going to have great fun."

The event will take place live from UCLA's Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 16 from 8-9:30 p.m. E.T. /.P.T.

"With special guests, performances, outrageous competitions and unique categories to be announced in the coming weeks, Kids' Choice Sports 2015 will be bursting with fun, unforgettable moments, epic slimings and sheer 'fan'-demonium that can only happen on Nickelodeon," a release from the network states. "For the second straight year, kids from around the country will show their support for their favorite athletes, teams and sports moments and decide who will take home a cherished, one-of-a-kind Nickelodeon orange mohawked blimp trophy."

In a blog that he created for the Seattle Children's Hospital Research Foundation last year, Wilson previously spoke about fulfilling his God given purpose to do more than just play football. While he is talented on the football field, Wilson believes his God given purpose involves giving back to others.

"I believe God has put me on this earth to serve others. That's why there's nothing more fulfilling than walking into a child's hospital room and finding out how they're doing – listening to their stories," Wilson wrote. "All these kids are so brave and to be there for them and give them a boost is really important to me. What they don't know is how much they affect me: I get an even bigger boost from them!"
