Christie Brinkley Handed $500,000 Tax Bill by IRS

Former supermodel Christie Brinkley vowed to pay her $500,000 tax debt to the IRS on Wednesday.

Allegedly, the model didn’t know of her sizeable tax debt until it was brought to her attention in the form of a $531,720 tax bill in November, according to TMZ.

“I was surprised to learn of the tax lien filing and took immediate steps to rectify this matter,” Brinkley told TMZ. “I discovered the tax lien was the result of an error.”

The alleged “error” is unreported at this time.

The IRS filed a tax lien against Brinkley’s Hampton’s estate in Suffolk County, Long Island on Nov. 21, according to The New York Daily News.

Brinkley is famously known as the first model to appear on three consecutive covers of Sports Illustrated as well as her later infomercial work with Chuck Norris for “Total Gym,” according to IMDb.

Her fame however, isn’t alone with IRS tax suffrage in recent years.

In 2008 actor Wesley Snipes was sentenced to 3 years in prison for willful tax evasion for about $17 million in back taxes, penalties, and interest according to Parade Magazine.

Parade also reports that actor Nicholas Cage was in a tax-debt with the IRS in 2008, as well, to the tune of $814,000.

Although Brinkley, much like many of her celebrity predecessors won’t have to worry too much about paying her debt off.

Celebrity Networth reports that the supermodel’s worth is an estimated $80 million.

“My taxes will be paid in full by Wednesday, Dec. 7,” Brinkley reported to TMZ, “I expect the tax lien to be released immediately thereafter.”
