Chuck Norris Makes Comeback in 'Expendables 2'

"The Expendables 2" starring Chuck Norris has led the weekend's box office earnings, surprisingly out-selling "The Bourne Legacy."

Sylvester Stallone's action film saw $28.7 million, with $10.5 million on Friday alone and continuing the success all weekend, according to Shockya.com.

Contributing to the success of the film was the all-star cast including veteran actors Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean Claude Can Damme, and the ever-popular Norris.

At 72 years old, Norris continues to appeal to movie goers. Part of his draw could be his dedication to fitness, which he recently opened up about.

"I work out on the Total Gym," said the actor of the brand name fitness equipment, according to USA Today. "I've been working on that for 35 years. I've found as you get older, when you go with free weights, it puts a lot of stress on your joints."

Moreover, "Expendables 2" co-star Terry Crews also commented on staying fit at an older age with a good mental attitude and the determination to stay healthy.

"You just never give up," said Crews, 44. "A lot of people at 30, there's a psychological thing. Everyone is looking at you when you're working out … You have to ignore the voices of everyone else who say, 'Slow down.'"

Crews mentioned fellow actor and co-star Stallone, noting, "Look at Sly [Stallone]. That's a man who is 66 years old. And he's in shape … When I look at guys like that, I think I can keep going. There is no end."

The cast of big stars and the huge budget for "Expendables 2" had what it took to beat the other action film "The Bourne Legacy," which finished second with $17 million over the weekend. However, the fourth installment to the Jason Bourne films did not star the usual Matt Damon, but instead, Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross.

Coming in at number three in the box office was "Paranorman," which saw $14 million. Disappointingly, "The Campaign" starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis earned just $13.3 million.

"Sparkle," starring the late Whitney Houston, saw $12 million, while previously-released "The Dark Knight Rises" earned $11.1 million over the weekend. Then "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" came in at seventh with $10.9 million in box office earnings.
