CIA Arranged Bride Plot to Target Terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki, Says Spy

New reports indicate that the Central Intelligence Agency hired a spy in an attempt to arrange a marriage between a woman and a leading terrorist who had been on the top of the hit list.

The report was first published in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, and it detailed the plot that was reportedly used to try and kill American-born terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki. The spy was allegedly paid a $250,000 to find a woman that al-Awlaki would then marry.

Morten Storm, a Danish convert to Islam and suspected CIA double agent, provided the newspaper with videos, email and text messages that he claims were between a 32-year old Croatian named Aminah and al-Awlaki.

al-Awlaki had asked Storm to find him a third wife in 2009, and Storm said he found Aminah in 2010 through a Facebook page dedicated to followers and supporters of al-Awlaki. He then arranged the two to meet.

"I am 32 years old and am ready for dangerous things," she wrote, according to texts posted by the paper. "I am ready to die for the sake of Allah."

Storm revealed that the attempt was not successful. The plot failed when the woman reached Yemen to meet al-Awlaki and was told by his aides to leave her luggage- the bags had been fitted with tracking devices by the CIA without her knowledge.

Ultimately, al-Awlaki was killed during a CIA drone strike in Sept. 2011. The CIA continued to decline to talk about the events surrounding al-Awlaki's death and that of the failed marriage arrangement. The CIA also declined to comment last week when the claims by the purported Danish spy first surfaced in the Danish newspaper.

Al-Awlaki was considered the most dangerous terrorist after Osama Bin Laden. Al Awlaki was linked to many terrorist attacks, including the failed underwear bomber in Detroit and the attack at Fort Hood.
