Courtney Cox and David Arquette 'Best Friends' Post Divorce

Courtney Cox has admitted that she still loves ex-husband David Arquette, and that the pair are "best friends" now.

In what could be Hollywood's most amicable divorce, the "Cougar Town" star and Arquette initially announced their split in 2010, but only now are divorcing.

"He's my best friend in the world," Cox said while appearing on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" recently, via People. "I love him."

The 48-year-old actress supported her former spouse during his bout with addiction, as well as while the actor appeared on last year's "Dancing with the Stars."

Over the summer, 13 years to the date after their wedding, Cox and Arquette filed for a divorce citing "irreconcilable differences," according to TMZ.

Despite their differences, Cox told DeGeneres that her feelings for her ex husband have not hardened.

"I appreciate David more now than I ever did," said the actress. "I mean… it's hard. I don't recommend divorce in general, but, you know, he is my best friend and we've both grown and changed."

"I think we both appreciate each other more," Cox added. "I hope he does. I do."

Cox and Arquette married in 1999, and the couple share eight-year-old daughter Coco.

At the time of their "trial separation" in 2010, the couple said: "The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage."

The joint statement continued: "We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply. As we go through this process we are determined to use kindness and understanding to get through this together."

Meanwhile, Arquette celebrated his bar mitzvah directly after filing for a divorce from Cox in June. The 40-year-old actor visited Israel as a segment for his travel show, and completed the Jewish rite of passage typically celebrated at age 13.

"I had my Bar Mitzvah today," the actor posted to Twitter at the time. "Finally I'm a man."

The "Scream" actor is reportedly dating "Entertainment Tonight" correspondent Christina McClarty, while Cox is enjoying focusing on her career.

The Ellen episode of the talk show with Cox's interview will air Jan. 7.
