CP World Report: Holy Land, Obama, Climate Change, Blueberries
A new report on the state of Christians living in the Holy Land by "60 Minutes" has stirred controversy among some Christian and Jewish groups that have blasted the report as unfairly portraying Israel as an oppressor of Christians. CBS' Bob Simon conducted the report seeking to refute that Muslim discrimination is driving the mass exodus of Palestinian Christians from the Holy Land. He argued that Israeli settlements have forced Christians out of the Holy Land. Many journalists are backing up his report, but both the Jewish Federations of North America and Christians United For Israel found the report to be defamatory and requested that their followers complain to CBS executives.
The National Press Club in Washington DC will be the site of a panel to address the global persecution of Christians this Thursday. Dr. Carl Moeller, president and CEO of the Human Rights watchdog Open Doors U.S. A. will be part of the panel discussion. Also participating: Rabbi Yitzchok Alderstein, director of Interfaith Affairs for the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
James Lovelock, the scientist who developed the "Gaia theory" of Earth has said that he was too "alarmist" about Global Warming in an earlier book. The Gaia theory asserts that all organisms are integrated to form a self-regulating system on earth. Lovelock now says the science supporting global warming does not understand as much about how the Earth's climate changes, as scientists had previously claimed.
BUT meanwhile just last week, Mark McReynolds at an evangelical university in Southern California claimed that evangelicals are becoming more convinced of the evidence for man-made global warming.

With the one-year anniversary of Osama Bin Laden's death approaching President Obama's reelection campaign stood by its controversial web video that questioned whether Mitt Romney would have approved the Bin Laden raid. A tragic story: A Pastor, his wife and their youngest son were among seven people killed in a head-on crash between two pick up trucks, just North of Edmonton. Pastor Shannon Wheaton—of Family Christian Centre--his wife Trena, and infant son Benjamin all died in the fiery crash on Friday in Fort MacMurray. They aren't just high in antioxidants, a study says they can actually boost brain power.
The study included more than 16-thousand women over the age of 70. Researchers found those who ate the most blueberries and strawberries had a slower rate of developing memory problems. And it didn't take a huge amount to see the benefits, about two, half-cup-servings per week. But the study couldn't prove if berries protected the womens' brains directly. Those who ate berries also got more exercise and had higher incomes...both factors in having better health.
