6. Michael Gungor fully embraced atheism for a year, wife Lisa says
Popular Christian alternative rocker Michael Gungor of the musical duo Gungor reportedly embraced atheism for a year, his wife and bandmate Lisa revealed this year.
In her newly published book, The Most Beautiful Thing I've Seen, Lisa shares the evolution of her family’s faith and how their questions about God and the Bible forced them out of the fundamentalist Christian space.

During an on-camera interview with BuzzFeed, Lisa revealed that her husband began his atheism after they had their first daughter and had been struggling to conceive. In the July-August issue of Relevant Magazine, the singer said she was also not sure how she would define her own faith after declaring herself an atheist during her spiritual evolution.
However, Lisa told The Christian Post in September that her husband has since found his way back to God.
The Gungors founded their own version of church, called the Bloom Church in Denver, Colorado, in 2006.
