Creation Museum's Ken Ham Says Atheists Went 'Ballistic' After Fox Interview

Creation Museum and Answers in Genesis CEO and President Ken Ham called atheists "intolerant" following their criticism of his recent interview with Fox and Friends host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, where he stood up for his beliefs and commented on atheist billboards.

"So why do those who oppose AiG's message get so upset when we are able to articulate our message publicly in the secular media? It's because they really are intolerant of any beliefs but their own," Ham wrote Tuesday on Facebook.

"Anti Christian ideology has permeated much of the secular news media and so often Biblical Christians are mocked, misrepresented or attacked for what they believe by anti-Christian agenda driven reporters. Secularists have had their way so long in the secular media now, when a Christian is allowed to represent a Christian worldview, even if for a short time, the opposition goes ballistic," the creationist continued.

In the Fox interview, Ham addressed the increasing number of atheist-themed billboards that have been popping up across the country, including at prominent locations like New York's Time Square, and said that it is part of a growing secular movement aimed at deleting the Bible and Christian symbols from public places.

"You know, the atheists who are a very small minority in the population, have been trying to impose their religion of atheism on the culture now for quite a while," Ham said.

"Because they're becoming so aggressive, I just feel that it's really time Christians really stood up in this culture to take on the atheists and to proclaim their message of hope," he continued. "I mean, what's the atheists' message? There is no God? When you die that's the end of you? So everything's just meaningless and hopelessness?"

Several secular blogs have since taken aim at the interview, including NewsHounds.net, which wrote:

"The discussion turned to a creationist billboard which, according to Hasselbeck, gives atheists 'a taste of their own medicine' by proclaiming – oh, zing – 'to all our atheist friends, thank God you're wrong.' Ham said that we should be friends because – wait for it – 'we all go back to Adam.' (Uh, no Ken, we all go back to unnamed hominids)."

The comment references an October billboard put up by AiG in New York and San Francisco stating, "To all of our atheist friends: Thank God You're Wrong." The Freedom From Religion Foundation responded with its own ad stating: "OMG, there is no god!" alongside the face of former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Julia Sweeney.

NewsHounds.net added, "That atheists are 'imposing' their beliefs is a reality only on Fox News because, like Fox's bogus 'war on Christmas,' this is just another concoction from the fevered mind of the paranoid religious right which enables Fox News to attack 'the other.'"

In his FB post, Ham noted that Hasselbeck, who thanked him for standing up for his faith, has also been attacked over the interview.

"Apparently she should have attacked me with an anti-Ken Ham agenda instead of asking questions as a reporter is supposed to do to allow someone to articulate their position," the Creation Museum president said.

"Well I feel even more encouraged by my interview on Fox and Friends this morning as the atheists were upset by it," he added in another post.

An additional blog post about the issue titled "Standing up to Atheists" was also posted on Tuesday on the Answers in Genesis website.

"In essence atheists worship themselves – they are their own gods," the AiG blog states. "These fallible, finite people make absolute statements about their belief in naturalism and that naturalism was the cause of the universe and life. They determine their own morality – their own supposed purpose and meaning."
