Dallas Mavericks Stars Consider Leaving
After winning a world championship, some of The Dallas Mavericks players are rumored to be considering the possibility of taking their talents elsewhere.
In the 2011-2012 season, Dallas will have six unrestricted free agent players in J.J. Barea, Tyson Chandler, DeShawn Stevenson, Peja Stojakovic and Brian Cardinal. Although some of the players contributed more to the team’s championship win than others, two of the shining stars in the post-season have openly expressed that they are considering other options.
The current NBA lockout that owners have enforced on players is causing J.J. Barea to consider playing overseas.

If an amicable decision cannot be reached by the 2011-2012 NBA season, the pint-sized Puerto Rican point guard may entertain the possibility of playing in Spain. In an interview with Caribbean Business, J.J. Barea talked about the possibility of leaving America if a collective bargaining agreement could not be decided upon.
"We hope to strike a deal, but if we do not, I have a Plan B in Spain," Barea said.
Although Barea spoke about the possibility, he was not sure about which Spanish team would suit him best.
“I have not thought about it,” Barea said. “My goal is to play in the NBA next season."
If all works out with the new CBA, Barea said he would like to continue on with the Mavericks.
Tyson Chandler, however, was not so quick to claim his loyalty to the team.
"It's a great point in my career, and I'm coming up under free agency and there's a lot of great teams out there, a lot of great opportunities out there, a lot of up-and-building things," Chandler said Wednesday in an interview with ESPN Dallas.
"I've got a family, so I want to make sure I put my family in a good situation, where my kids will be comfortable going to school, being able to adjust. That's my No. 1 priority. Being on the court, my surroundings, my teammates, the organization, the history of the organization, our chances, the type of impact I'll make. All that stuff is going to come into play. It's a long list,” he said.
Although the future of the team has yet to be determined next season, both Chandler and Barrea will have to put their plans on hold until the current lockout situation is resolved.
