Danny Green, Spurs Take Game Five of the NBA Finals

There are many big names and heavy hitters in the 2013 NBA finals, from the Spurs' Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, to the Heat's big three- LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. However, the surprise star of Sunday's game 5 Spurs 114-104 victory over the Miami Heat was Danny Green.

Green, the Spurs young shooting guard, hit six three-pointers in just 10 attempts in Sunday's game. He had a total of 24 points. With yesterday's six additional three-point buckets, Green broke the NBA record for most three-pointers made in the NBA finals, with a total of 25 baskets from beyond the three-point arc in this Spur-Heat series.

"It seems everything is going right for me. I feel truly blessed," Green said. "The basketball gods are in our favor right now," the young player said.

Ray Allen held the previous record, with 22 3-pointers in a playoff series.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich commented that confidence and team support helped Green accomplish this goal.

"The whole season has made [Green] more confident. He's somebody who has gotten a lot of minutes. He basically has the green light. When you do it for 82 games, the last thing to see is if he can do it when the real lights are on. He's certainly answered that question," Popovich said, according to SBNation.com.

Game six is scheduled for this coming Tuesday at 9 p.m. and will be broadcast on ABC. If Green keeps up his hot streak. it could mean the end of the series and a national championship for the San Antonio Spurs, who are just one game away from clinching the title. But it won't be an easy matter. LeBron James and the Heat will be fighting for a chance at Game 7. If the series goes to a seventh game, it is scheduled for Thursday.
