Demi Lovato Birthday in Kenya: Star Celebrates 21 by Building School
Inviting friends and family to join her, Demi Lovato is spending her 21st birthday on a volunteer trip to Kenya.
The former Disney star and current judge on "X-Factor" decided that the best way to spend her birthday this year would be by giving back to others. To do this, the actress and singer signed up for a Me to We Volunteer Trip in Kenya. Me to We is run by an organization that makes volunteer trips for groups, families, kids, and adults possible.
While many young adults have more wild ideas when it comes to celebrating their 21st birthday, Lovato explained that she was looking for a "life changing experience" to make her day more memorable.

"With 21 being a milestone birthday, I wanted a memorable and meaningful way to celebrate, rather than throw a big birthday bash," said Lovato said in a press statement. "I knew traveling with Me to We and volunteering with Free The Children would give me the opportunity to have a life-changing experience I would never forget, with the people closest to me. Also having worked with the organization over this past year it's been great to see first-hand the wonderful work that is being done as a result of all the incredible efforts of young people around the nation."
For the trip the star decided to help build a new school for Free the Children, a Me to We partner. The singer has in the past, helped raise more than $50,000 for the program and performed at the Free the Children's stadium.
