'Destiny 2' Bans PC Players For Using Cheats For Other Games

"Destiny 2" players who have cheat software for other games should take caution as they may get banned by Bungie.

According to Game Rant, a number of "Destiny 2" players have been banned by Bungie once again, and not all of them cheat. Some have claimed not having any cheat software for "Destiny 2," but it looks like simply having any kind of cheat software may get players banned.

If a cheat software for any game is running in the background while "Destiny 2" is being played, Bungie detects this and bans the player. This much was revealed by Bungie Community Manager Cozmo.

"We do not ban players for simply having cheat tools installed, but do ban for running them while playing 'Destiny 2,'" Cozmo wrote, adding that the company does not "differentiate between cheat tools for 'Destiny 2' and cheat tools for other games because it would be easy to avoid a ban by making a 'Destiny 2' cheat tool that pretends to be a cheat tool for another game."

This is the second time Bungie has banned players who are thought to be cheating. It first happened at the launch, with some players claiming that they were not cheating at all. However, as they pointed out, they did have third-party software like Discord.

Bungie later revealed in a blog post, though, that the presence of third-party software is not what led players to get banned. Bungie Community Manager Cozmo repeated the same thing while replying to players in the forums.

"We looked into it. Our recent wave of protective security measures were reviewed extensively and all were identified as having cheat tools running multiple times," Cozmo wrote.

While Bungie initially banned about 400 players on PC during the launch, the company then announced that some of the bans were made in error and that they have already corrected the issue. It remains to be seen whether errors were made again in this second round of bans.
