'Destiny 2' To Launch Seasons With Big Events
Bungie revealed a lot of information regarding the future of "Destiny 2" during its TwitchCon stream with the biggest takeaway being that updates and events will be split into four seasons per year. With every season, players can look forward to regular updates as well as events featuring new game modes, cosmetics, and gear.
These seasons will feature different "themes", which will be defined by special cosmetic items. Sadly though, this means that some items will disappear after every season so some players will probably miss out on some awesome gear.
As of this time, the game is in the midst of the first season featuring Faction Rallies and Iron Banner as its main limited-time events. However, there isn't much time left as Bungie has revealed the details for the second season of "Destiny 2."
Season 2 will see the return of the Dawning event which includes the Ice Hockey minigame and weaponized snowballs which can be used to take down enemies. Players will also be able to collect a special Dawning armor set during this season.
Iron Banner will also see a few tweaks, namely that Guardians will be able to buy gear directly from Lord Saladin. The season will also introduce a new competitive multiplayer map, the details of which will probably be announced closer to launch.
So when will season 2 kick off? It's very likely that it will launch following the game's release on the PC which is set for Oct. 24 so newer players won't be missing out on the season's offerings of new cosmetics and limited-run events. There is a chance that it could change however as there is yet to be any official announcement from Bungie.
The PC version of "Destiny 2" will be available on Battle.net and is set to go live at around 10 a.m. PST and 1:00 p.m. EST.
