"Doctor Who" Season 10 will have 12 episodes, plus two Christmas specials (2016 and 2017), and will return to the small screens on April 2017 on BBC One. According to showrunner Steven Moffat, Peter Capaldi will remain Doctor for at least one more season, rounding off to a good three years to circle his storyline.

Pearl Mackie, on the other hand, will become the Time Lord's new sidekick, and is described as "irreverent" and "cheeky" in contrast to Capaldi's serious, focused Doctor. If Clara knew the Doctor beforehand, Bill knows nothing about her new partner, which is bound to bring out the wickedly fun adventures for Season 10!

Current filming progress

As of late, they were reported to have been filming in Bristol at Kings Weston House in Kingsweston, stirring speculations that a big party awaits avid fans for Season 10. Built in the early 18th century, the House is definitely made of the grand, magnificent stuff that often surrounds the Doctor's travels across space and time.

Fake snow surrounded the front of Kings Weston House, so fans assumed that they were shooting for the Christmas Special. But BBC confirmed to Bristol Post that the filming was indeed for "Doctor Who's" Season 10.

Other reports confirmed that they were also filming in Spain, particularly at the City of Arts and Science Museum in Valencia, although plot details are practically nil. Given the nature of the museum, however, it would not be surprising to meet an artist/scientist/architect like we did in the Vincent Van Gogh episode. Felix Candela, perhaps?

Matt Lucas' return to 'Doctor Who'

Meanwhile, "Alice in Wonderland" star Matt Lucas is back in "Doctor Who's" Season 10 as Nardole. It was originally thought that he would only appear in the Christmas special, but the actor himself confirmed that he's been filming "more adventures for the series." Last we had heard from him was in Cardiff University doing some running around with the duo!
