'Downton Abbey' Movie News: Who Is Returning?

While many fans are still mourning the end of the hit TV series "Downton Abbey," details about the upcoming "Downton Abbey" movie have been released.

After the sixth season on the small screens, it is more and more likely that fans will get to see their favorite characters on the big screen. According to E! Online, one of the "Downton Abbey" stars teased the upcoming existence of the film.

The source was able to speak to Tom Cullen about a possible "Downton Abbey" film during an interview. He said, "If they really want to do that, they should definitely do that. I think people would be up for it, people would watch it. And I think it would be a very nice way to finish it off."

However, Cullen did hint that it could be awhile until the film hits the silver screens. He explained that the cast and crew of the series are currently enjoying their rest from the series before heading back to work.

Meanwhile, it seems as though one of the cast members is already excited to take on the film. As reported by Metro UK, Brendan Coyle has confirmed his appearance in the upcoming film. Unfortunately, an iconic member of the series will not be joining the rest of the cast when the series is brought to life in the movies.

It was stated that Maggie Smith will not be continuing her time on "Downton Series," meaning that Lady Violet will not be seen causing drama once again. Reports also said that she was the reason why the series ended in the first place.

New York Times reported that Alan Leech had hinted the possibility of it in a previous interview. Leech had said, "Maggie Smith turned to me on one of our last days of filming this season and said, 'I must be 196 years old by now. What's in the water here?' "I said, 'I don't know, Maggie,' and she goes, 'It's ridiculous. I should have been dead years ago.'"

In the mean time, there has yet to be any news regarding the release date for the upcoming film.
