The commercial also gave a preview from the new album, revealing a track playing with the lyrics, "Let's take it back to straight hip-hop and start it from scratch/ I'm about to bloody this track up, everybody get back/ That's why my pen needs a pad because my rhymes' on the rag."

As the song played, text flashed across the screen confirming the name of the new album as well as the release date for November 5, 2013.

The MTV VMAs 2013 took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday night, and prior to the event kicking off Eminem dropped a big hint about his new album.

The rapper took to Instagram to post a photo of the show's logo and a caption that read, "Guess who's REALLY back? #VMAs."

One track has already been released from the new Marshal Mathers LP 2 album. The song is entitled "Survival," and that also was featured on a commercial, but this time for the upcoming game "Call of Duty: Ghosts."

"Survival" features vocals from singer Skylar Grey, who Eminem has collaborated with on the Dr. Dre song "I Need a Doctor."

The confirmation of the release date finally puts to bed rumors that have been circulating for months about the eagerly anticipated album.

Previously Paul Rosenberg, president of Shady Records, had said, "He's been working on it for some time. It's safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we're not exactly sure when. We've got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we're trying to see what else lines up."
