Faith Hill to Reprise Sunday Night Football Role With Theme Song
NBC announced Thursday that country superstar Faith Hill will reprise the “Sunday Night Football” theme song for the fifth consecutive season.
Hill is to sing “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” the show’s opening song, when it kicks off on September 11. The song is set to the classic “I Hate Myself for Loving You” by Joan Jett.
About the Grammy award winning singer, the show’s producer Gred Gaudelli said, “Faith Hill has become a staple of ‘Sunday Night Football,’ and in year five she’s better than ever.”

Also in a statement, Hill said, “I wait all year for Sunday Night.”
She continued, “Somehow the season wouldn’t feel the same without seeing everyone from NBC/Sunday Night Football over the summer [when we record and film the open]. It makes it feel like the wait for the season is somehow shorter.”
The first game of the show will be the Dallas Cowboys versus the New York Jets.
Also revealed in the press release about Hill’s new “Sunday Night Football” theme song was news that the singer has been working in the studio on an album. It will be the first musical recording for the “Breathe” singer in six years.
Raised in Jackson, Mississippi in a devout Christian environment, Hill got her start singing in local churches. She has received five Grammy Awards as well as nine Academy of Country Music Awards for her musical work.
Hill and her husband Tim McGraw celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary this year, and released personalized Barbie dolls. Country music’s most famous couple, Hill and McGraw often collaborate on songs, such as hit singles “It’s Your Love” and “Like We Never Loved At All.” They have three daughters; Gracie, Maggie, and Audrey.
Hill appears on George Strait’s upcoming album, “Here for a Good Time,” on the duet, “A Showman’s Life,” in stores Tuesday.
