Half-Line Miami Release, Download News: Fan-made Mash-Up Video Game for Free Download (VIDEO)

Fan-made video game, "Half-Line Miami,' has just been released over the weekend for free download.

Fan, gamer and independent game developer, Thomas Kole recently developed an eight-stage game described as a combination of "Half-Life" and "Hotline Miami" and is now downloadable for PC on Kole's itch.io website.

A top-down shooter created in the tradition of Dennaton Games' 2D action video game, "Hotline Miami," the game also contains several elements from Valve's sci-fi first-person shooter, "Half-Life," both of which are Kole's self-admitted favorites.

Kole has stated he created the game as an experiment and as "a declaration of his love" for both titles.

"Half-Line Miami" presents a strategy-oriented game with a protagonist named Gordon Freeman (after "Half-Life's" theoretical physicist hero), who relies on his wits to escape a number of tough situations, making it the thinking gamer's version of "Hotline Miami."

The mash-up game's objective is to pass through all eight levels themed after locations Freeman passes through in "Half-Life 2."

The popular gravity gun from "Half-Life 2" also figures prominently in "Half-Line Miami," allowing Freeman to lift heavy objects and throw them at opponents to immobilize them.

While game objects can be utilized as shields or projectiles against enemies, the same principle as "Hotline Miami" applies: if players get shot, they die in the game.

Players will also have access to guns, grenades, and tactical maneuvers against opponents, while a high-velocity 1980s synthwave and retro soundtrack by "Sung" artist Geoffrey Graven of France plays in the background. Sung's collection of retro tracks can be found on Soundcloud.

Kole's cross-over game also adds physics-based combat to the mix, giving players a gamut of strategy options to choose from, as well as a number of scenarios to use to take down several enemies at once.

The game is available free for download for PC at http://stabberthomas.itch.io/hlm.
