'Final Fantasy 7' Remake News: Why Square Enix Opts To Re-Release Game In Parts?

At last year's E3 event, game maker Square Enix announced that it would be developing a "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" game which will be released in multiple parts. As expected, the move garnered negative feedback from the public.

However, according to a report from iDigitalTimes.com, making the FF7 remake episodic should nonetheless be expected given the reason that the scope of the game is incredibly long. It came out the first time with three disks and the graphics were not that impressive when compared to the recent standards. Having it remade with HD graphics and adding a new set of gameplay, it should be anticipated that the scope has gone even bigger than the last.

Over at BleedingCool.com, the media outlet cited a popular game industry commentator, Jim Sterling, who in turn referred to some of his sources within SE saying that this is all geared towards income generation.

The person in question goes into full details, revealing that SE had already come up with a business decision to break up their games into little pieces before the game was even finished. It would be a way for them to generate more money while they continue to add more new features in the game.

Insiders went on to reveal that the company was quite worried about the success of the gaming console platforms. SE, around the time PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 came out, weren't quite sure how it would all pan out since the sales of such consoles were relatively low back then.

Sterling further divulged that SE already had the episodic release planned out back in 2013. To wit, the "Hitman" and FF7 Remake projects are the results of an old business model. However, since PlayStation 4 and Xbox 1 have proven to be quite a pair of knockout sellers, gamers should expect the condition to get even better and that SE might ditch the plan, unless of course, it works out for them.
