Final Fantasy XIII-2: Square Enix Releases More Screenshots
“Final Fantasy XIII-2” will hit stores Jan. 31, 2012, and Square Enix recently released screenshots taken from the game.
The new visuals provide fans of the series with insight into the game's battles and landscapes.
Along with that, the screenshots also hint at some of “Final Fantasy XIII-2’s” themes within its storyline.
Each numbered Final Fantasy takes place in a different universe, but XIII-2 is a direct sequel to XIII. This means characters and the world of that game will make their return in the sequel.
“Final Fantasy XIII-2” follows Serah, the sister of Lightning, the main character in the prequel.
Lightning goes missing after the end of the original game, and Serah sets out on a quest to find her lost sister. One of the screenshots shows the original games main character reaching out to her sister and telling Serah to reunite with their family.
Other landscape-based screenshots provide fans of the series with visuals of a place called Augusta Tower.
Judging from some of the other visuals, the leveling-up system seems to have remained the same.
There are more visuals available that also seem to be taken from the middle of a battle.
An interesting monster sporting a large, red bowtie seems to have made its way to the newest installment of the Final Fantasy series.
Storyline arcs are also revealed in the pictures, showing the new game to involve extensive traveling.
As far as graphics, FFXIII-2 is equal to the original version.
