'Final Fantasy XV' Update: Fans Treated To New Battle Footage Released, New Character
Fans who have been waiting for the action role-playing video game "Final Fantasy XV" will be delighted to know that the game may already be arriving very soon. And because of that, Square Enix has been gradually releasing some essential details about the game.
According to The Verge, the story, open-world and even the driving have already been revealed. The latest one right now is the combat. Developer Square Enix released a trailer for the game which featured protagonists Noctis and his team conducting an infiltration mission on the Niflheim Base.
It also revealed some of the skills and the abilities of the characters including hiding behind cover and attacking enemies with lightning fast warp attacks, hinting how the stealth and battle mechanics work. Popular Science noted that the controls appear on the screen, which is how the gamers are allowed to sneak up on enemies. It also mentioned that the Warp Kill is similar to the stealth methods seen in other games like "Batman: Arkham Knight" and "Metal Gear Solid."

Aside from the new footage, a new character has been introduced as well. According to IGN, director Hajime Tabata and marketing manager Akio Ofuji revealed during an Active Time Report the latest addition, Aranea Highwind, who is described to be the commander of Niflheim's Third Army Corps 87th Airborne Division. Square Enix also referred to Highwind as a "skilled aerial combatant known as 'Dragoon' within the Imperial military." A footage of Aranea in action was also released along with a new look at combat with magic in use.
In other news, the upcoming March event called "Final Fantasy Uncovered" is still on and it is confirmed that it will be during that time that the official release date of the game will be announced. It will be held on March 30 in Los Angeles at 7 p.m. Pacific Time.
The event is open for the public and fans can grab tickets as they go on sale beginning Feb. 5, 4 p.m. Pacific Time. It will also be livestreamed on YouTube and Twitch for those who cannot come. Fans can expect to catch some "major announcements and surprises."
