Francis Chan's 'Multiply,' Focused on Discipleship, Slated for Fall Release

Francis Chan, founder and chancellor of Eternity Bible College in California, is preparing with co-author Mark Beuving to release a new book titled Multiply, which seeks to inspire followers of Christ to encourage others to become disciples.

"Multiply is not a Bible study, it is about disciples making disciples," Chan said in a statement emailed to The Christian Post. "It was written with the intention that everyone who goes through the material will be encouraged and taught to pass this on to someone else.

"The Spirit of God is at work, this is what the future of the church needs to be about and we want to explain that biblically in such a way that all hear it and go, 'Yeah, that's clearly the Word of God.' And then pass this on to everyone who calls himself a follower of Jesus Christ,."

In a press release about the book, which is to be released Nov. 1, he added: "Jesus said, 'Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.' A lot of people have memorized this passage but are they doing it? Is it actually happening? We're all afraid. We all have insecurities. Can we work together to get rid of those and pray that God gives us power over those things and then actually observe – actually go and do what He commanded us to do?"

Chan is also the founding pastor of Cornerstone Church in California and speaks nationally. His previous bestseller book, Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God, won the Retailers Choice Award for the best Christian Living book, and deals with the concept of love between Christians and God.

Multiply, on the other hand, makes it its mission to equip readers with strategies to carry out Jesus' command, which is to convert unbelievers and make them disciples. The paperback book is comprised of 24 sections that correspond to an online video in which Francis Chan and New York Times bestselling author David Platt discuss the different points raised in the book about guiding others to Christ.

"Multiply is about expanding the kingdom of God, doing what we were designed for, becoming disciples and making disciples," added Dan Rich, Chief Publishing Officer of David C Cook. "This is a timely and significant message for the church today."

Chan lives with his wife, Lisa, and their five children in northern California.

The Multiply Movement website has already announced November gatherings at local churches where the evangelist will discuss his new book. Those who cannot participate live are encouraged to host free webcasts of the events.
