'G.I. Joe' Crew Member Dies Operating Scissor Lift

A crewmember working on the set of the new movie “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” which is the sequel to “G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra”, was unexpectedly been killed in a tragic accident.

Officials at Paramount Pictures confirm Mike Huber was working on tearing down the set when something went terribly wrong.

Sources connected to the production told TMZ that the man was working on a high-powered scissor lift, when the machine tipped over and the man sustained fatal injuries.

According to TMZ, officials at Paramount Pictures explained that a worker who was hired to dismantle part of a set was killed during the production of the movie in New Orleans.

The worker was operating a high-powered scissor lift when the accident happened. As he was working with the machinery to dismantle the production set the heavy machine tipped over causing the worker fatal injuries.

Paramount Pictures, who is running the filming, said: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the [crew member's] family at this time.”
The statement continued: "The safety of our cast and crew is our top priority and the studio is fully cooperating with all investigating agencies as they examine the circumstances surrounding this unusual accident.”

Jon M. Chi is directing the film that has a star studded cast including Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum and Dwayne Johnson among others.

The film is set to open in July 2012.
