Galaxy Nexus 2 Shows Up in Benchmarks Running Android 5.0

A device believed to be the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2 showed up in benchmarks this week running Android 5.0.

The device's model number was GT-I9525 and reason why some believe it is the Galaxy Nexus 2 is due to its high-end specifications and the fact that is it running the next-generation build of Android.

Specifications on this device include a display with 720x1280 resolution, a 1.8GHz processor, and a Mali-400 MP graphics chip.

The model number points to the device not being the successor to the Galaxy S3, as that device's number is I9300. The GS3 successor will most likely be the smartphone with the I9400 model number that has also been showing up in benchmarks as of late.

It is also likely that Google will use the Galaxy Nexus 2 to introduce Android 5.0 the same way it did with the original Galaxy Nexus and Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.

The LG Optimus G2 smartphone will also run Android 5.0 and will be released sometime next year.

Korean Media is reporting that LG electronics has started the development of the LG Optimus G2 and is planning to release the device in May of 2013.

This new Optimus will pack a 5-inch Full HD LCD panel with 440ppi pixel density.

Other specifications on the handset include a 2.0GHz quad-core MSM8974 Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Prime CPU, 4G LTE, and a camera with backlight prevention technology.

The Android 5.0, release must be quickly approaching as the new software appeared in other benchmarks earlier this month.

The device running the software was the Sony LT30i and it appeared on the NenaMark Benchmark charts.

It listed that it was running Android 5.0, which is rumored to be called Key Lime Pie, in order to follow in the footsteps of previous builds of the software.

Key Lime Pie will run on both tablets and smartphones.
