Galaxy Note 2 Software Upgrade to Hit Sprint Version Soon

Sprint's version of the smartphone-tablet hybrid, the Galaxy Note 2, will receive a software upgrade in the coming weeks.

This update will bring enhancements and fixes to its software. The GPS lock settings will now be able to be defaulted by corporate device admin, emails will go to the outbox when in a no coverage area or airplane mode, text message notifications will beep while in a voice call, and there will also be the multi-view window feature available that allows users to run two apps simultaneously on the same screen.

This new software upgrade will automatically be downloaded to Sprint Galaxy Note 2 user's devices.

A system update screen should prompt the user with the option to "install now," or "install later." The install later option will send a reminder to the user once or twice a day to perform the update.

"Install Now" will power the Galaxy Note 2 down and back on to complete the update.

If the user is not prompted, they should enter "Check for Updates," to access it.

In order to get there the user must navigate through the following sequence. Home Screen>Tap Apps>Settings>System Update>Update Samsung Software>Check Now. The device will then automatically download and install any available updates.

The user may have to power off the phone and then turn it back on to complete the update process.

The Galaxy Note 2 is the successor to the wildly popular original phablet and launched in the U.S. earlier this month.

The device comes with Android 4.1, JellyBean pre-installed and features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display.

It is currently available for purchase from all major U.S. carriers including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon with a new 2-year contract.
