Galaxy Note 8 vs. iPad Mini: The War Samsung Wanted

The Galaxy Note 8 Vs. iPad Mini battle is something Samsung wants everyone to pay attention to.

Despite the company's success with other mini tablets, Samsung decided to launch the Galaxy Note 8 to take Apple's iPad Mini head-on with a device around the same size.

Samsung released some images this week comparing the two devices and pointing out the advantages the Note 8 has over the iPad Mini.

The Galaxy Note 8 features an 8-inch WXGA TFT display with 1280 x 800 pixels and 189 ppi. Apple's iPad Mini has a slightly less impressive display that measures in at 7.9-inches with 1024 x 768 pixels and 163 ppi. Samsung seems to have Apple beat in this department.

The Galaxy Note 8 also packs a Pegasus Q 1.6GHz quad-core processor. Apple's iPad Mini comes with the company's A5 chip that is basically a 1GHz dual-core processor, making it less powerful than what Samsung is offering in its tablet. The Note 8 packs 2GB RAM while the iPad Mini only comes with 512MB.

One advantage Apple has over the Galaxy Note 8 is the operating system. Even though a lot of the specs are high on the tablet, longtime Apple fans will prefer the iPad Mini simply because of the software.

The iPad Mini comes in three memory capacities, with 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models. The Galaxy Note 8 has less of a selection, only coming with 16GB or 32GB of built-in memory. However, the tablet should have a microSD slot which allows for expanding the memory up to 64GB.

Samsung's Note line stands out from the competition thanks to the S Pen accessory. This basically gives it an advantage over the rest of the market and has solidified the original Note line in the smartphone area.

Both of these devices impress, however, it would be fairer to compare Apple's iPad Mini successor to the Galaxy Note 8, since they will launch during the same year.
