Galaxy Note Release Date Set for Aug. 8 on T-Mobile

T-Mobile will release the Samsung Galaxy Note smartphone-tablet hybrid on August 8.

Both the carrier and Samsung Mobile made the announcement regarding the device this week and also stated that it will retail for $249.99 with a new 2-year contract.

T-Mobile's version of the Galaxy Note will have 42Mbps HSPA+ connectivity instead of LTE-support. It will also feature a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 CPU, a 5.3-inch display, 8-megapixel camera, 16GB of built-in memory, and Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed.

AT&T's version of the Note comes with Android 2.3, Gingerbread.

T-Mobile first confirmed that it would be releasing the Galaxy Note earlier this month.

"In addition to larger screens, today customers demand more from their devices- from having safeguarded access to corporate email and other productivity features to being able to rely on a speedy network for streaming content," said Andrew Morrison, vice president of T-Mobile USA's product management.

"With the unique and highly innovative Galaxy Note in our lineup, we are even better equipped to help customers strike the perfect balance as they juggle both professional and personal activities," he added.

The device is also SAFE (Samsung Approved for Enterprise), which means it is efficient for business. It will come equipped with a full suite of enterprise-ready features and capabilities included, like comprehensive IT support for top-tier mobile device management providers, on device bit-encryption, enhanced support for Microsoft Exchange, and integrated support for a range of virtual private network solutions.

T-Mobile's Galaxy Note will also offer the T-Mobile 4G Pro App Pack that features popular applications such as Dropbox, Evernote, Square, Triplt, CamScanner and LinkedIn. This optimizes the device for business people, who will not have to spend time searching for and purchasing these applications since they will come pre-installed on T-Mobile's version.
