Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Available for Sprint

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update is now available for Sprint users.

Those on the carrier should receive a notification to update the device soon. Users that don't get one can update manually from the Settings menu. Changes made to the handset should be similar to what KitKat brought to other smartphones such as the Galaxy S4.

The Galaxy S3 was released in 2012 and features pretty impressive specs for that time period. The device packs a 4.8-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixels, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a quad-core Exynos processor, and 1GB RAM.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE model on Verizon now has access to the official Android 4.4, KitKat update.

The software started rolling out for the Wi-Fi only models last week. Now it seems that 3G and LTE models will finally get a taste of the chocolatey treat. This update will also arrive in stages.

It brings several new features including wireless printing support, full screen album, new camera shortcut, white status bar icons, enhanced sound controls, default home, SMS apps and stability improvements. Users can check for the update in the Settings menu.

Samsung unveiled the new version of the tablet during the company's unpacked event last year where the Galaxy Note 3 was also introduced.

The new device follows up last year's Galaxy Note 10.1 and features more impressive specs than its predecessor. It will come with a similar design to the new Galaxy Note 3 with stitching on the backing that is made from a different type of plastic.

Specifications on the device include a 10.1-inch WQXGA LCD display, a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 for the LTE version and a 1.9GHz octa-core Exynos 5 processor for the 3G Wi-Fi version, 3GB RAM, 16/32/64GB of internal memory, microSD support, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, Bluetooth 4.0, USB, 2.0, S-Pen and a 8220mAh battery. It will also come running Android 4.3, JellyBean out of the box.
