George Clooney, 52, to Wed Amal Alamuddin, 36; Actor's Parents 'Thrilled' About Engagement
George Clooney's father Nick revealed that he is "thrilled" about the Hollywood actor's recent engagement to British Lawyer Amal Alamuddin.

The veteran broadcaster, 80, along with his wife Nina, 74, was introduced to Alamuddin, 36, last year and the pair were immediately drawn to her. Alamuddin is a human rights lawyer who shares an interest in humanitarianism with Clooney and his father.

"We are thrilled," Nick told Us magazine.
"We have had an opportunity to interact with this wonderful young woman and these are two great people," he continued. "We are thrilled at their decision and we hope for them the best."
Clooney, who was once married to actress Talia Balsam, is believed to have proposed to Alamuddin in recent weeks and the couple celebrated their engagement with friends in Los Angeles last week. They first stepped out together publicly in October, three months after former pro-wrestler Stacy Keibler confirmed her split from the actor.
"George and Amal are trying to keep things very low-key but they also aren't really trying to hide this, it doesn't seem," an insider told People magazine. "I think it's like they want the people they love to know that this is real, that they plan on being together forever."
Clooney, a successful actor and film producer, has been at the forefront of advocacy for resolving the war in Darfur. Alamuddin, who was born in Beirut and raised in England, also has a philanthropic background.
She is currently representing Wikileaks founder Julian Assange and is an adviser to Kofi Annan, the special envoy to Syria.
"You can say I'm extremely happy, Amal's a lovely girl. I like her very much," Clooney's Mom Nina said of her future daughter-in-law who she described as being a good mix of "brains and beauty."
The couple are yet to publicly confirm their engagement and they have not yet started wedding planning.
