Global Pastors' Wives Network Welcomes Next Leader

The president of the Global Pastors Wives Network is passing the baton of leadership over to a recognized Christian conference speaker and author who will officially lead the 5-year organization of pastors' wives beginning January.

"As my term comes to a close, it is with tremendous joy and enthusiasm that I join with [GPWN founder Vonette] Bright and the GPWN board to welcome Devi Titus as our next president," GPWN president Becky Hunter wrote in the network's blog Friday.

"The transition has begun and will be complete by January 2009," she reported.

"Join me in praying for Devi in her new role and let's remember to pray for pastors' wives around the world when we sit down in our worship services this weekend."

Founded in 2003 by Campus Crusade for Christ co-founder Vonette Bright, GPWN is a growing worldwide community of pastors' wives from a myriad of denominations who believe that connecting with each other and sharing resources can equip them to faithfully and enthusiastically partner with their husbands for ministry and service.

Over the course of her three-year term as president, Hunter ministered to scores of women through conferences and the ministry of GPWN.

"We are so grateful to Becky Hunter for her years of service leading GPWN," Mark Anderson, president of the Global Pastors Network and Call2All, wrote to supporters. "She's done an outstanding job of pioneering this ministry under GPN."

According to Anderson, Hunter recruited Titus to take her place because she felt she was the right person to expand and build the network further.

"Devi Titus is a leader of leaders," Anderson stated. "She serves on the advisory board for Ministries Today magazine and is a member of the Board of Directors for the International Foursquare Gospel Church.

"As a successful author and pastor's wife, she is uniquely qualified to lead GPWN," he added.

In her comments Friday, Hunter acknowledged Titus as a "mother" to many and a "godly, excellent" servant leader.

"Devi draws from more than 40 years in the ministry as a pastor's wife and addresses a wide range of topics to encourage women in every aspect of their personal and ministry lives," Hunter stated. "Her message to women is always relevant, often daring to say what others only think.

"Her life's passion is ministering to women," added Hunter, whose husband is megachurch pastor Joel Hunter of Northland, A Church Distributed.

The outgoing GPWN head assured members and supporters of Titus' ability to affirm and motivate pastors' wives to connect to others worldwide.

"Devi will help us all celebrate and empower the call on our lives," Hunter stated.

The official transition of the presidency is scheduled to take place in January at the Dallas Call2All Congress, where Christian leaders from across the world will gather for training and networking.

According to GPN leader Anderson, Hunter will continue to be involved and support GPWN as one of its "greatest cheerleaders."
