Google Nexus 6 vs Samsung Galaxy S5 Review: Specs, Prices and Features Comparison

Both the Google Nexus 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 have been released and comparisons between the two high-end flagship phones have definitely become unavoidable.

The phones' information and specs are available for viewing on websites such as Giz Mag, Phone Arena and Android Pit, and here is a shortlist of what makes each phone different from the other:

For the basic design, build and display, the Nexus 6 is showing off a 6-inch AMOLED splash-resistant screen with 1440 x 2560 (493ppi) pixels, while the Galaxy S5 has a 5.1-inch super AMOLED water- and dust-resistant screen with 1920 x 1080 (432ppi) pixels. Both phones are scratch-resistant and have light and proximity sensors.

Looking at the cameras of each phone, the Nexus 6 has a dual LED flash with a 2mp front camera and a 13mp rear camera, while the Galaxy S5 edged out its competition just a little with an LED flash, 2.1mp front camera and a 16mp rear camera. Both phones come with autofocus, face detection, digital zoom and high dynamic range mode, though the Galaxy S5 has a digital stabilization feature, burst mode, ISO control and more.

For the hardware, the Nexus 6 and Galaxy S5 are sporting a quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon. However, the Nexus 6 has a system memory of 3072MB RAM and an internal storage of 64GB, compared to the Galaxy S5 with its 2048MB RAM and 32GB storage that can be expanded to 128GB.

When it comes to battery power, the Nexus 6 runs on 3220 mAh and is said to take only 15 minutes to charge back up, while the Galaxy S5 runs on 2800 mAh and comes with an Ultra Power Saving Mode. The Nexus 6 also comes in only white and blue, while the Galaxy S5 comes in gold, white, black and blue.

As for the price tag, the Nexus 6 and Galaxy S5 are both available for $650, so consumers may look into on-contract pricing as the Galaxy S5 is looking to end up around $200 only.
