Google Nexus 7 Tablet Press Photo and Specs Leak (PHOTO)

A press photo and official specifications for the upcoming Google Nexus 7 tablet leaked this week.

The device is set to feature an Nvidia quad-core Tegra 3 quad-core chip, Android 4.1 JellyBean and looks like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the picture.

Other specifications for the Google Nexus 7 tablet include a 7-inch 1280x800 IPS display with 178-degree viewing angle, a Nvidia GeForce 12-core GPU, 1GB of RAM, 8-16GB of internal storage, a 1.2-megapixel front camera, 9-hour battery life, Wi-Fi, NFC with Google Wallet and no rear-camera.

Pricing information is also available as the 8GB model will cost $199 while the 16GB version will run a little more at $249.

Photos recently taken with the camera from the Google Nexus 7 tablet surfaced on the internet at the end of last week on Picasa.com.

The EXIF data on the images shows a 1280 x 960 resolution, however, they have most likely been scaled down prior to being uploaded. It also suggests that the photos were taken with Google's upcoming 7-inch tablet.

However, in order to achieve this kind of resolution in the picture, the device would need to feature a more powerful rear shooter. So the new spec leak could be inaccurate due to it leaving out a rear shooter.

An ASUS rep also recently confirmed the existence of the long-rumored Google Nexus 7 tablet in a report from Android Authority at Computex.

The report confirmed that ASUS and Google have partnered up to manufacture the 7-inch tablet and they plan to officially announce it at the end of this month.

Judging from this information, it appears that the rumors of an unveiling for the device taking place at Google I/O will most likely prove to be true.
