Google Nexus 7 Tablet Released for T-Mobile

The Google Nexus 7 tablet is now available on T-Mobile.

The tech blog AndroidPolice discovered the device that is now on T-Mobile's 3G network in the Google Play store this week. The 7-inch tablet was previously only available through AT&T. This new T-Mobile version comes with an unlocked T-Mobile SIM.

The Google Nexus 7 is also being offered with $100 credit for customers purchasing the device through AT&T.

In order to receive the credit, the tablet must be purchased before Feb. 14 with a new 2-year contract on one of the carrier's eligible plans. Once the device is bought, the customer must then call AT&T to receive the bill credit. This deal applies to the HSPA+ version of the Google Nexus 7, which can also be found in the Google Play online store.

The Google Nexus 7 launched in the spring of last year and has been one of the company's most successful devices. The tablet introduced the new Android 4.1, JellyBean operating system and entered Google into the competition with other 7-inch slates such as the Barnes & Noble Nook and Amazon Kindle Fire.

The successor to the Google Nexus 7 could be released as early as May 2013, as Google announced in November that it will hold its Google I/O developers conference that month.

It will take place from May 15-17 at The Moscone Center West in San Francisco, according to an announcement made by the company yesterday.

At last year's conference, the company introduced its new Google Nexus 7 tablet, along with its Android 4.1, Jelly Bean OS.

A new Nexus 7 and Android 5.0 are just some of the rumored announcements Google is expected to make at the conference.
