'Gotham' Season 2B Cast News: 'The O.C.' Star Joins For Recurring Role; Show Boss Teases Plot

Fox's hit crime drama TV series "Gotham" Season 2 is currently on hiatus for the holidays. However, new updates regarding the show are still emerging, the most recent of which points out to a new player in town. Meanwhile, the show's boss gave hints on some exciting plot developments that fans can expect when the DC TV series returns to the small screens next year.

According to E! Online, the show is casting "The O.C." star Melinda Clarke for a recurring role in Season 2B. The actress, who played as Julie Cooper in the hit teen drama from Fox, will be appearing this time as an "attractive and cultured" character named Grace Van Dahl.

Clarke's alter-ego, the media outlet clarified, is not part of the DC Comics' universe. The newcomer, however, was described as someone who is "desperate for money and power."

Her hunger for these things would eventually lead her to concoct lies, cheat on her ways, and "even kill" someone.

Grace will reportedly debut on the 15th episode of Season 2B, which should air this coming spring. Because she's been set for multiple runs, it appears that the character will play a huge part in the introduction of new villains like Dr. Strange (B.D. Wong) and Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow).

Meanwhile, executive producer Bruno Heller shared several plot details that fans should be on the lookout for in 2016. According to Heller during his interview with TVLine, Bruce (David Mazouz) will be getting closer to pinning down the person who killed his parents.

Heller also confirmed that viewers will get to learn more about the mystery that is inside Indian Hill, thus the reported appearance of the new characters.

The showrunner went on to reveal that even though the Galavans are "out of the picture," there are still some issues to deal with within the titular city before it can become a paradise for Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor).

The self-proclaimed king of the Gotham underground is yet to face "new challenges."

"He's going to come out of this experience a profoundly changed man. We're going to explore his psyche and his family background [via the introduction of Paul Reubens as his father]," Heller revealed to the publication.

"Gotham" Season 2B returns 2016. Stay tuned for more updates.
