Things are heating up for Fox's hit superhero drama TV series "Gotham" which has yet to return to the small screens for the second half of Season 2.

There will be a lot of exciting things to expect when the show, which tells the origins of DC's iconic superhero, Batman, resumes on air. One of the most anticipated aspects is the answer as to who really killed the parents of Bruce Wayne.

Executive producer Bruno Heller told TVGuide.com that the character, played by young actor David Mazouz, will finally find out who murdered his parents.

It has been a great mystery in the DC Universe as to who actually shot Mr. and Mrs. Wayne in the dark alley, one fateful night. Left to the care of the family's butler, Alfred (Sean Pertwee), the young Bruce has taken up the responsibility to find out who actually pulled the trigger.

Before the Fox drama left for the holidays, it was revealed that Theo Galavan (James Frain) knows who the shooter is. However, things became complicated and the Duma clan member burned the files containing the criminal's identity.

It has yet to be learned how Bruce will get wind of the information. Could it be from Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie)? Or from someone else?

In the same report, Heller also pointed out the consequences of Jim's decision to finally put an end to Galavan's life.

"He's certainly compromised," the showrunner added. "He's stepped over that moral line. Jim Gordon has made a terrible mistake, which he's going to pay for."

Of course, the very first person who will demand an explanation is Capt. Barnes (Michael Chiklis). He has been quite critical not only of Jim but anyone inside the force who attempts to cross the line between what's legal and what's not.

Heller, however, mentioned that Gordon will be more concerned on how will this affect his relationship with Lee (Morena Baccarin).

"The biggest price he will pay is in his relationship with Lee Tompkins," the show boss added. "Jim's essentially an honest man, so the need to have honest relationships does betray him in the end."

"Gotham" Season 2B premieres Feb. 29 at 8 p.m. on FOX.
