Greg Laurie, Harvest America Joined by 3 Nationwide Ministries
Three nationwide ministries have agreed to partner with Harvest America organizers for the first-of-its-kind evangelism event led by Greg Laurie that will be simulcast live to hundreds of churches and venues in late summer.
"We are excited to join efforts with these three ministries to allow even more people the opportunity to participate in Harvest America and to provide them with resources for growing their faith," said Harvest Crusades Executive Director John Collins.
Lifeway, NavPress and Global Media Outreach will be helping promote the event, sponsor hosts, and provide informational resources for the outreach which will be held at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., on Aug. 26.
On Wednesday, it was announced that more than 900 churches and venues have signed-up to host Harvest America. Organizers hope to take the success of the annual Harvest Crusade stadium events that have been attended by 4.4 million people over the last 22 years to the next level.
LifeWay – a ministry of the Southern Baptist Convention – will host free simulcasts and webcasts of Harvest America for churches, small groups, organizations and individuals through its webpage.
NavPress, which is a division of Navigators that focuses on leadership development and discipleship, has developed a follow-up discipleship curriculum. This six-part study series accompanies the book Start to Follow: How to Be a Successful Follower of Christ and is a class for those who decide to accept Jesus Christ at Harvest America.
Leaders at Harvest Ministries said the technology component of Harvest America aligns well with the mission of their newest partner, Global Media Outreach. The Internet-focused ministry is using their website, GodLife.com, to feature video content by Laurie in preparation for Harvest America. They will also be live streaming the event for their online community participants via their "virtual chapel."
At a webinar hosted by Harvest America on its website Wednesday, Laurie and his wife, Cathe, introduced several prayer resources to help with their Pray America initiatives.
Those wanting to participate by praying for the event can sign up for "The 60 Days Around the Clock Prayer," that starts on July 1 at pray.harvestamerica.com. The prayer will also continue three days beyond the event to pray for those who accepted Christ at Harvest America.
An online "Prayer Map" and "Prayer Cloud" that has been on the website for several months now has representation from people in all 50 states, organizers said. The Prayer Cloud has the names of nearly 40,000 people that have been listed by 6,000 people who would like to see them receive salvation.
Also, during the webinar this week, Laurie's book Hope for America was introduced. "This roadmap for revival in America is presented as another promotional and teaching tool," said Harvest America representative Scot Camden.
Cathe Laurie, who serves as the event prayer director, introduced the Pray America journal she created as a tool to record prayers and "help effectively pray for Harvest America."
"I think one of the reasons people don't pray is that they think that prayer doesn't make a difference. Prayer is necessary. As we look back on our journals we see how God answered our prayers. Prayer does make a difference and you will begin to see that as you journal your prayer life," she said.
