'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12 News, Spoilers: Does Ben's Suspension Mean Jason George Is Exiting the Medical Drama?

In last week's tense two-hour special, which consisted of episodes "There's a Fine, Fine Line" and "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)," Dr. Ben Warren (Jason George) and Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) faced their biggest obstacle yet as a married couple.

When the hospital went on lockdown because of a missing child, Ben was forced to perform an emergency C-section after having been locked with a pregnant woman inside an elevator. Despite his efforts, both the mother and the baby died, and it fell on Bailey to determine how her husband should be disciplined for his actions. Though Bailey wanted to fire Ben, the committee she formed decided to give Ben a six-month suspension instead.

According to George, this is the "most significant situation" the two have ever faced in terms of their relationship. Though the couple were able to overcome Bailey's bout with OCD and have made it through various fights and disagreements, this time, the issue goes much, much deeper. "Anything's within the realm of possibility at this point," the actor told Entertainment Weekly.

And now that the show has given fans the impression that Ben will be out of the hospital for the next six months, what will he be up to? Does this mean that George will be out of work, as well?

"I jokingly said to [exec producer] Stacy McKee, 'I've got a job still, right?'' the actor told TVLine. "And she laughed and said, 'You're not going anywhere. You're not that lucky. You've got to stay here and go through the grind.'"

According to the actor, while the medical stuff is important to "Grey's," it is only one lens through which fans see the relationships in the show, and there are other equally important elements.

Perhaps Ben can stay out of the hospital while also remaining a vital part of "Grey's Anatomy"? Fans will have to stay tuned to see how this situation is played out.

Speaking of episodes, the "Grey's Anatomy" star also spoke about the show's upcoming season 12 finale, telling EW, "As usual, 'Grey's' hits a finale that from what I'm hearing, everybody keeps going, 'What?!'"

"We end up in some place that we never would've thought we'd have gotten to," he said. "The folks at Grey's end up some place they would not have thought they could get to."

"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
