'Grimm' Season 5 News, Spoilers: Supernatural Drama Gets Green Light for Season 6
NBC's police procedural fantasy drama series "Grimm" has been renewed for a sixth season.
On Tuesday, April 5, the network confirmed that it has added "Grimm" to its roster of previously renewed dramas. The series, which first aired in 2011, tells the story of Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), a homicide investigator who finds out that he is descended from a line of monster hunters known as Grimms. The series follows Nick as he battles a variety of evil creatures alongside his friend Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and his Homicide partner Detective Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby).
"We absolutely love what our producers and cast have accomplished over the past five seasons," NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said in a statement on Tuesday (via Deadline). "They have created a whole new world of creatures and have a truly devoted fan base. We can't wait to see what comes next."

"Grimm" joins a list of newly renewed NBC series for the 2016-17 broadcast season that includes drama series "Chicago Fire, "Chicago Med," "Chicago PD," "The Blacklist," "Law & Order: SVU," "Shades of Blue," and "Blindspot." In February, NBC announced that it had approved a second season for its comedy series "Superstore." "The Voice," which is currently on its 10th season, has also been renewed.
NBC series "Heartbeat," "The Night Shift," "The Mysteries of Laura," "Undateable," "Game of Silence," "Crowded," and "Telenovela" are still on the bubble.
In the current season of "Grimm," Nick attempts to defend Portland from the nefarious group of Wesen called Black Claw. In future episodes, Capt. Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) will take drastic measures to safeguard his place of power as his allegiance to Nick is tested.
"Grimm" also stars Claire Coffee as Adalind Schade, Bitsie Tulloch as Juliette Silverton, Reggie Lee as Sergeant Drew Wu, and Bree Turner as Rosalee Calvert.
In the upcoming episode, titled "The Believer," a Wesen preacher gains believers as Eve (Tulloch) gets access to Black Claw and Capt. Renard makes his move to a seat of power in the local government.
"Grimm" airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
