Hailee Steinfeld Nails: Pop-Art Design for Comic-Con (PHOTO)
Actress Hailee Steinfeld made a two-day appearance at last weekend's Comic-Con, but it was her pop-art manicure that stole the show.
Coming to fame for her appearance in the film "True Grit" as Mattie Ross, a role for which she was nominated for an academy award, Steinfeld made a two-day appearance last weekend at the Comic-Con. The actress arrived at the event on Thursday to promote "Enders Game," a sci-fi action film directed by Gavin Hood. In the film, Steinfeld plays Petra Arkanian.
She was photographed the first night wearing a short sleeve, white button down top and black pencil skirt. But it was not Steinfeld's outfit that stood out. Instead it was her pop-art manicure that revealed a different scene on every nail. One stand out design was an eye painted over a white background with red polka-dot. A second nail also spelled out the name of her character, Petra.

The actress arrived to the event on the second day wearing a patterned Bibhu Mohapatra dress. Despite the louder ensemble, her nails were still able to distract photographers.
Following a slew of awards shows during which celebrities have shown off elaborate nails, the idea of nail art has become more popular. Easier-to-accomplish trends have included French manicures with shiny tips and matte polish or nails dipped in glitter. But some have gone to a whole other extreme.
An event called "The Nail Olympics" even exists where women show off elaborate manicures. Starting in 2001, this year's event was held in Rome. Women arrived with manicures that held five-inch dolls on top of them. Other women showed off nails with long point tips and painted with unique designs.
During the event, hundreds of nail artists are pitted against each other and challenged to come up with the most unique nail designs.
