Halloween Attractions 2013: 5 Celebration Ideas

October has arrived and this year, The Christian Post has compiled a list of some of the top Halloween attractions across the United States. The list includes a variety of different offerings from Haunted Houses to pumpkin patches, and each were measured in terms of the venue, decor, location, and costs.

1. Abracadabra Superstore, NYC

Any Halloween celebration requires participants to follow tradition and dress up in a scary costume. While there are hundreds of online costume stores, New York City is home to one of the best in the world- the Abracadabra Superstore, located in Flatiron.

This costume emporium is host to movie-inspired suits as well as terrifying Halloween getups with masks, wigs, makeup and other props to accompany your look.

2. Dulcelandia, Chicago

Along with costumes, Halloween parties would be incomplete without candy. Prepare for trick-or-treaters this year by visiting Dulcelandia, a Mexican candy superstore in Chicago where offbeat Halloween treats can be found.

Instead of the usual Kit-Kat bars or Jolly Ranchers, Dulcelandia offers unique candy in an array of flavors, colors and shapes. The store has eight locations in Chicago, all host to imported Mexican candies. For more information, visit Dulcelandia.com.

3. Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch, Los Angeles

Home to the stars, Los Angeles is also host to a fun, family-friendly pumpkin patch, Mr. Bones.

Founded in 1986, Mr. Bones offers L.A. residents beautiful and fresh autumn decorations such as long-stemmed pumpkins, cornstalks, and squash.

Furthermore, the pumpkin patch in Tinseltown includes the Halloween boo-tique where Halloween party essentials can be purchased, including pumpkin-carving supplies.

Another reason to stop by Mr. Bones is a chance to see your favorite movie star. Last year, several Hollywood starlets took their families to Mr. Bones, including Halle Berry, Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter.

4. Thrillvania, Terrell, Texas

In the same state which the famous horror film "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" took place is Thrillvania- one of America's best Haunted Halloween attractions.

Originally founded by ex-Disney imaginers in Terrell, Texas, the haunted house offers four attractions that boast sets suitable for a movie and terrifying tours across nearly 50 acres.

Entrance for an "Adult All Attraction Thrill Pass" will cost you $30, while children 10 and under is a $15 charge. For ticketing information, visit hauntedhousepark.com.

5. Trail of Terror, Wallingford, Connecticut

Rounding out the best Halloween activities is another haunted house tour in Wallingford, Conn.

Trail of Terror first opened in 1994 but changes each year with skilled actors trained to send chills down your spine.

It is strongly recommended to purchase tickets ahead of time online for $15 to avoid long lines and ensure admittance. For more information, visit TrailofTerror.com.
