Halo 5 Release Date to Be Revealed at E3, Microsoft Announces Appearance

Information on Halo 5 which could include a release date and other news could be announced at this year's E3.

Microsoft stated this week that the series will make an appearance at the event, but did not say in what capacity. The company could either be announcing the first version for the next-gen systems or another project related to the series which could be the Halo 2: Anniversary Edition.

It would make sense for 343 to start releasing information now if it plans to launch Halo 5 before the end of 2014. Halo PR person Rob Semsey recently hinted at this via Twitter.

The March 2014 issue of the Official Xbox Magazine also printed that Halo 5 is coming this year. However, that is not the same a confirmed release date. Microsoft is sure to clarify this information on the next Halo game at this year's E3.

Master Chief will most likely return in the next installment of the series. Characters known as the Prometheans also will an appearance, according to a photo of a new Master Chief toy that featured their weapons.

Halo 4 was the last game in the series to be released as it was a hot seller in 2012 for the Xbox 360 console. The title grossed $220 million on its launch day and a total of $300 million during its opening week. The game was played by more than one million people on Xbox Live within the first 24 hours of release. Overall sales for the game equate to around 4 million. This was the last Halo made for the Xbox 360. Halo 5 will launch for the Xbox One and will be the first of the series to do so.
