HCJB President Asks for Prayers After Wife's 'Advanced Cancer' Diagnosis
There was an outpouring of prayer and well wishes Friday for Wayne Pederson, president of HCJB Global, and his wife, Norma Pederson, after the couple revealed that she was diagnosed with advanced cancer and underwent surgery this week.
"We've been blessed for many years with good health, but now we're on a new journey," Pederson said in a statement shared Friday with The Christian Post. "We know that God is always faithful, and He is intimately involved in this trial."
The Pedersons are said to remain optimistic after Mrs. Pederson underwent a successful surgery to have several tumors removed.

"She will begin recovery from her surgery at home in the next few days and then will begin a regimen of chemotherapy to eradicate any remaining cancer," added the HCJB Global statement.
Pederson, who has put a hold on his schedule for the next few months to remain by his wife's side, added: "I am surrounded by an incredible group of people who will help me maintain leadership responsibilities. We are so blessed to know that whatever difficulties we face, God is still in control of our lives and our ministry."
HCJB Global is a nondenominational, nonprofit evangelical Christian ministry that serves the international community by overseeing a network of media and health care and community development groups in an effort to become "the voice and hands of Jesus."
The organization, which operates mainly through its Christian radio station, concluded its statement on the difficult news by asking supporters to "join us in consistently praying for Wayne and Norma during this challenging time."
The news, which was published on HCJB Global's website, has seen promises from the HCJB Global community to keep the couple in prayer, such as this one from Winfield Laurence Buckman Filho, director of Corrientes Indigenous Training in Brazil:
"Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray for you both of you during this time of testing. We have seen God work healing in our family and we pray the same for yours."
