'Homeland' Season 6 News: New Installment to Tackle on Donald Trump or Muslim Immigration Issues?

The season 6 of Showtime's hit espionage drama TV series "Homeland" is said to be set in New York for the first time where it might tackle on issues that fans of the show are very familiar with.

Series executive David Nevins said during the Television Critics Association winter press tour, and was quoted over at Entertainment Weekly (EW), that much of the production will be "in and around New York."

"It will be set domestically. It will be set primarily in the New York area, but not exclusively," the showrunner said.

Nevins further spoke with the media outlet that it is their plan "to do another America story" after having it set in the overseas including Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the latest, Berlin, Germany, where they made history as the first US series to shoot an entire show outside the country.

The EP also believes that moving the show back at home will do well for the cast members who he thinks "will be happy to be back in the US."

"I don't think it's necessarily going to stay there forever, but there was a strong interest in doing a domestic story from the creative team," he told EW.

When asked if the new storyline will feature the 2016 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his apparent abhorrence to the Muslim immigration issues, he said, "They don't tend to [use] real people, but they tend to find themes that are real, so it's possible."

In the casting side of things, a report from Ecumenical News said series co-creator Alex Gansa confirms the return of F Murray Abraham's character Dar Adal. It appears that the director is guilty for what happened to Quinn (Rupert Friend) back in season 5 when he got tortured in a gas chamber. Gansa teases that the relationship between the officer and the operative will further be explored in the new installment.

"Homeland" Season 6 is slated to return to Showtime this fall.
