HP Touchpad Go: Photos Leak of $99 Tablet’s 7-Inch Sister Product

A Chinese forum has given insight into details of the $99 HP Touchpad's smaller counterpart; the HP 7-inch TouchPad Go (codenamed “Opal”), which was due to be shipped just weeks before HP’s decision to scrap its webOS hardware.

According to thisismynext.com, everything that has been heard and seen of the Opal in the past matches with the photos that appeared on the Chinese forum last night.

The details come from a poster who claims to have owned the Opal for the last three months. It is said to have a 4:3 aspect ratio and the same 1024 x 768 resolution as the larger TouchPad.

It’s too bad the Opal never had a chance in the Tablet market.

It has been reported that HP's last batch of full size TouchPad tablets, which will consist of up to 200,000 units, will soon be released as the company looks to quench "unfulfilled demand."

The Digitimes reported that HP originally made orders to Inventec, it's ODM (original design manufacturer) partner, for up to 1.1 million TouchPad tablets. Some 900,000 have been delivered so far. The remaining 200,000 units would be sold as an attempt to help suppliers clear out inventories as well as maintain good relationships with the companies involved.

As for HP maintaining the uber cheap $99 tag in this second wave of sales, this price cannot be guaranteed.
