HTC One Now Available for Pre-Order

The HTC One smartphone is now available for pre-order in Canada.

Rogers, one of the nation's biggest carriers, began taking reservations for the handset recently. The device can be pre-ordered online through the carrier.

Customers who order the HTC One before March 22nd will be eligible to win a Sharp HDTV with a media accessory from HTC. Rogers will also slash $100 off the price of the One for customers willing to trade in their old smartphone for it. This could end up being more if the handset is worth over $100.

Rogers is allowing customers access to these deals only if they decide to sign a 3-year contract. The price of the HTC One will be $149.99 through the carrier.

HTC gave the public a first look at the new flagship device which comes with top-of-the-line specs and new exclusive HTC features such a Blinkfeed, HTC Zoe, and BoomSound last month.

"People today immerse themselves in a constant stream of updates, news and information. Although smartphones are one of the main ways we stay in touch with the people and information we care about, conventional designs have failed to keep pace with how people are actually using them," said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corp.

The new HTC One does a better job to stay up to date with the way people use smartphones, according to Chou.

Specifications for the HTC One include a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB RAM, a 2300 mAh battery, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE and some major improvements made to the camera specs. The smartphone will be available in both 32GB and 64GB versions and will come in silver and black variants.

It also comes with an 8-megapixel "Ultrapixels" camera that brings major improvements to low-light performance and optical image stabilization. The shooter provides "enhanced 360" panorama, time sequencing, and object removal along with an ultra-wide angle front-facing camera with 1080p capture.
