HTC One Pre-Orders Exceed Company's Expectations

Despite some major setbacks, reactions to HTC's One smartphone have been good as pre-orders for the device in the U.S. have exceeded the smartphone maker's expectations.

After some issues with components, HTC had to push back the device's release in order to meet customer demand. And even with those problems, the HTC One was still able to stir up a huge buzz throughout the U.S., according to the company.

The release date for the device is expected to fall sometime in late April.

The first markets to receive the HTC One will be Germany, the U.K. and Taiwan. Most other countries won't receive the device until the end of next month.

"HTC has seen unprecedented demand for and interest in the new HTC One, and the care taken to design and build it is evidenced in early reviews. The new HTC One will roll out in the UK, Germany and Taiwan next week and across Europe, North America and most of Asia-Pacific before the end of April," said HTC last week.

"We appreciate our customers' patience, and believe that once they have the phone in their hands they will agree that is has been worth that wait," the company added in a statement.

HTC will now go head to head with the Galaxy S4, which will also be released in late April in the U.S. Both devices feature state-of-the-art hardware and make for a good first smartphone match-up for 2013.

If marketed correctly, the HTC One could steal some of the Galaxy S4's spotlight. The company recently stated that it was going to change its strategy altogether for its products taking on a more aggressive marketing approach. Part of this plan was to directly challenge its biggest competitors, such as Samsung and Apple.
